Nacho Cheese Sauce

This sauce is seriously addictive! I have to hold myself back from making mountains of the stuff! 

Having tried several combinations of cheese and jalapenos in my aim to replicate the cheese sauce that accompanies your nachos at the cinema I had little success until my son suggested using the processed cheese you see on top of a burger!

Bingo! Of course! This cheese melts without any fuss and gives a very mellow flavour….so kudos to my boy 🙂  



My favourite jar of jalapenos to use is Old El Paso brand ( I tried all the others and none give the same result)

It’s the simplest sauce to make.

Just warm some milk in a pan, add the cheese, some juice from the jalapenos and gently stir until the cheese is fully melted. Pour over your nachos or serve on the side in a little dipping bowl, sprinkle jalepenos over the nachos and enjoy!




So whip up a batch of this for movie night at home. Also delicious for dipping your popcorn into! I often serve this as a lunchtime snack with cajun chicken wraps and it’s a real hit with my boys 🙂 

You can make this sauce ahead and once cooled refrigerate and just give a little blast in the microwave to reheat.



Remember, sometimes the best moments in life are the simple ones……. like eating cheesy nachos and popcorn on the couch, watching your favourite movie with a sneaky glass of vino in your hand and your loved ones beside you.

  • 1/2 cup of Milk
  • 9 slices of Easi singles cheese slices
  • Jar of Old El Paso jalapeno peppers


  1. Pour the milk into a small saucepan and put on a low heat to warm.
  2. Add the cheese slices and allow to melt ( stirring gently) Appoximately 3 to 4 minutes
  3. Once the cheese is fully melted add in 1/4 of a cup of the juice from the jar of jalapeno peppers
  4. Stir and taste ( you can add more/ less juice if you want thinner or thicker. The sauce will thicken further on cooling)
  5. Decant into a small jug and pour over your nachos and top with as many jalapenos as your spice buds will allow 🙂 Yummy!!!!
